A beautiful, colorful petticoat with a lot of volume doesn't necessarily have to be worn under a skirt, as it's thick enough to be worn on its own. We distinguish between 2- and 3-layered petticoats in fantastic colors. The skirts are one-size and are finished with elastic and a drawstring, suitable for various sizes. The 3-layered petticoat has an extra layer and provides a lot of volume.

What is a petticoat?

A petticoat is a type of tulle skirt for women, originally intended to be worn under a skirt to create extra volume. Petticoats are especially known from the 1950s and 60s, the era of rock and roll. They are usually made in several layers in a bell shape, also intended to accentuate feminine curves.

A petticoat for a rock and roll party

If you're attending a rock and roll party, chances are you, as a lady, will choose a polka dot dress or skirt. We have a white or black petticoat especially for under those polka dot skirts; they are not too expensive and give the skirt or dress some extra volume, which of course looks great while dancing to the music of Buddy Holly, Elvis, or Chuck Berry.

The film and series Petticoat

Petticoat received an extra boost from the eponymous musical by Joop van de Ende in 2010. The musical and the eponymous series from 2016 are about Pattie, a girl from the countryside who wants to go to the city for show business. She eventually takes the brave step and learns how to deal with various setbacks.
