Which Piet make-up should I use?

We have Kryolan Piet make-up in 3 basic colors, namely light brown, dark brown, and black. It is up to each person what color you want to give Piet; this can of course also be a soot stain, for which the mentioned colors are also suitable. The most used color for make-up nowadays is the light brown make-up from Kryolan No. 101. The advantage of a light brown color is that the facial expression remains clearly visible, and it comes across as friendlier than a very dark color. The disadvantage is that your face remains clearly visible, so you are more recognizable. An intermediate solution is the dark brown make-up No. 102 from Kryolan. The advantage of water make-up is that it works very easily. Kryolan make-up adheres excellently to dry skin, stays on well, and is also easy to remove.

How do I apply the make-up?

It is important that the skin is dry, so no Nivea or other greasy products on your skin, as this repels the make-up and it will not adhere. Use little water and apply the make-up with a brush and/or a sponge; a sponge works faster, as you cover larger areas at once. For the ears, eyes, and around the mouth, a brush works perfectly. Kryolan brushes are of excellent quality. Make sure you have enough sponges in stock. If you don't use too much water, you will get a beautiful matte color. People sometimes think of a shiny color due to the name water make-up, but that is a misunderstanding.

Make-up for Sinterklaas

We also have a very nice make-up set for Sinterklaas with several colors. This set also contains a kind of skin color, which, when applied, gives a somewhat older look; the skin becomes less smooth. For Sinterklaas, do not use too much white. A mistake many people make is using too much make-up for Sinterklaas; do this subtly, don't overdo it.

Using cosmetic pencils for Sinterklaas and Piet

You can use cosmetic pencils to define the edges, especially around the eyes, lips, and eyebrows. The edges of the eyes can also be perfectly worked with a black eyeliner pencil. If you use brown make-up or create a soot-stained Piet, it is very nice to make the eyebrows black. The white pencil can be used for Sinterklaas, to make the eyebrows whiter or to touch them up.

Beard glue and beard glue remover or adhesive remover

It is important that Sinterklaas's beard is properly glued. Kryolan's beard glue is perfect for this; it adheres excellently to dry skin. The glue is available in a 12 ml and a 50 ml bottle. The advantage of the larger bottle is that it also comes with a larger brush, which easily applies the glue to the desired areas. Be careful not to spill glue on the beard itself.

Once the beard is well glued and needs to be removed after the performance, it is good to use the adhesive remover to clean the beard, wig, mustache, and eyebrows. You can clean the edges with a brush or sponge. The face can be cleaned with all pur remover cream; this is gentle on the skin and works excellently. The Hydro remover cream also works great.
