Saint Nicholas Clothing, a Beard, and Accessories
If you have chosen a beautiful Saint Nicholas costume with the perfect habit and miter, it's time to complete the Saint Nicholas costume. What else do you need? First, the beard with wig, mustache, and eyebrows. There are so many variations, for example, with a fixed or a separate mustache, and made of synthetic hair or buffalo hair. The prices of these beard sets vary widely. But you are not yet Saint Nicholas, because what is Saint Nicholas without his big book and what about the staff? Do you want a standard staff or do you choose the real TV staff, it's entirely up to you. A Piet costume always comes with a beret; you can choose the other accessories yourself. The Piet wig is important. If you want to play Piet all day or for several days, a comfortable wig is important; an adjustable wig is definitely recommended. The regular wig is a fine type in its price range. A wig cap is handy to keep the hair neatly under the wig, but also to conceal any lighter color. Long black gloves are a must, as are tights in black or white or even another color. On the beret, Piet usually wears two colored feathers. This can be in the color of the costume, or it can be contrasting for a cheerful effect. The feathers can be attached with a pin, and a beret pin can be placed over it; new are the beret pins with a miter, just like in the Sinterklaasjournaal. For a Piet costume, a Piet ruff is necessary to protect the costume, and you need to apply less makeup, it looks better. On top of the Piet ruff comes a beautiful white ruff, possibly with matching cuffs. For the gingerbread nuts or gifts, you can bring a scattering bag with a miter or a large jute sack. Don't forget the Piet makeup, in any color. We recommend makeup from Kryolan or Grimas; this makeup has been extensively tested and is safe to use.
